Mandoon Estate Valentine’s Day dinner is a treat

What a spread!

The Wild Swan restaurant at Mandoon Estate at Caversham may be a tad difficult to find, but the food is well worth the drive.

Our night began badly – Google Maps listed the place as part of the Sandalford Wineries, which completely bamboozled our Uber driver.

We ended up hitting a ‘No Entry’ sign at the back of the Sandalford Estate, and were then forced to do a big detour to get back to Mandoon.

Apart from this slight blip however, the evening was perfect.

My partner and I were warmly welcomed at the beautiful and atmospheric Wild Swan restaurant, and the impressive Valentine’s Day menu presented.

The starter of Oysters with Ginger was beautifully presented, and the entrée of raw Kingfish combined perfectly with the coconut and lime.

This was followed by Whipped Goats’ Curd with beetroot, raspberry and hazelnut, and the ‘piece de resistance’ – Wagyu beef, marrow, soubise and leek – a main course taste sensation.

To finish we enjoyed a ‘palate cleanser’ of lemon sorbet followed by the most delicious Valrhona chocolate, strawberry and pistachio dessert (pictured below).

This was a repast of utmost delicacy and exquisite flavours, and nicely complemented throughout by some of Mandoon Estate’s best wines.

The service throughout was impeccable and although the meal was not cheap, if you are looking for the ultimate romantic dinner in the heart of the beautiful Swan Valley, it is well worth it.
